The Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s is now free for the public thanks to a $5 million dollar donation according to a Dallas Morning News article. They say,
“On Friday, the Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s Park at Klyde Warren Park opened free to the public thanks to a $5 million donation from Margot Perot and the Perot Family Foundation.
The widow of Ross Perot, the billionaire computer services magnate who ran for president twice in the 1990s as an independent and then a third-party candidate, insisted that the expanded playground be named for her longtime friends to rectify what she feels is a gross oversight.
The newly renovated park is now better than before as it is expanded and now has fun features that families will surely enjoy according to a NBC-DFW article which reports,
“The re-opening of the Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s Park is yet another way the park is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
“We are so excited to welcome families back,” park President Kit Sawers said. “It’s going from 10,000 square feet to about 16,000, so it’s almost doubling in size.”
This newly expanded Children’s Park brings an interactive water feature, a kid-sized climbing wall, a shaded pavilion for family events and birthday parties, and a 35-foot climbing tower and slide. The new Children’s Park also features renovated restrooms, as well as refreshed play surfaces and landscaping.”
For those who are looking to visit the park, it is located at 1909 Woodall Rodgers Fwy., Dallas, TX 75201.
