Clayton Kershaw Comes to East Dallas

East Dallas customers and of course staff who went to Raising Cane’s got in for a treat after Dallas Native Clayton Kershaw surprised them according to a Dallas Morning News article from March 9. They say,

“On March 9, 2022 during lunch, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw surprised Cane’s customers at the restaurant near Greenville Avenue and University Boulevard in East Dallas.

Kershaw, a World Series and Cy Young winner, is a Dallas native. And Raising Cane’s, which runs its operation out of an office in Plano, is a supporter of Kershaw’s charity. Kershaw’s Challenge raises money and offers aid to at-risk children in Los Angeles, Dallas, Zambia and the Dominican Republic.

The appearance lasted about an hour and was described as a just-for-fun perk for Caniacs, the name given to Raising Cane’s fanatics. It was designed to “surprise and delight,” a spokesman for Cane’s says. It was also a special perk for the employees at the fast-food restaurant, who got to spend an hour with a famous pitcher.”

The free agent of Dodgers is a big shot in the league after making grand achievements and tons of feats especially during 2011-2014 according to a Clutchpoints article from March 11. They say,

“The lefty has been with the Dodgers for his entire MLB career since coming into the league back in 2008. He quickly developed into the most consistently dominant starting pitcher of his era, winning three Cy Young Awards in a span of four years from 2011-14. He finished in second place in the year he didn’t win, and then he finished in the top five in all three years from 2015-17.

After three more solid seasons, Kershaw took a step back in 2021 as he dealt with an injury, limiting him to 22 starts. He still had a stellar 3.55 ERA and 144 strikeouts in 121 2/3 innings, though a 3.55 ERA is bad for Kershaw, who boasts a career 2.49 ERA.”

While the free agency at the moment remains interesting with Kershaw, a lot of people are hoping that he would resign with the Dodgers. However, Kershaw himself appears to be leaning towards another path at the moment.
