Level 3 Trauma Designation Given to MCF

While occupied and busy with the construction of their new patient tower, Medical City Frisco has received the Level 3 Trauma Designation on a 24 hour basis according to a Local Profile article from October 25 which reports,

“The Texas Department of State Health Services has officially designated Medical City Frisco as a Level III Trauma Center. This facility offers immediate emergency care for several needs and ailments on a 24-hour basis.

In order to receive a Level III Trauma Center designation, the facility must follow and adhere to standards established by the American College of Surgeons. A Level III Trauma Center must be able to provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, emergency operations, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients.

Medical City Frisco offers 24-hour, in-house coverage by ER physicians and anesthesiology, plus rapid availability of surgical specialists including general, neuro, orthopedic and trauma, Continuing education for nursing and trauma teams and an active community outreach program and coordination of prevention efforts.”

In a Facebook post, MCF celebrated their new achievement and long-awaited goal together with another achievement and an anniversary. They posted,

“This week we continue to celebrate our colleagues at Medical City Frisco for achieving Level III Trauma designation, women’s service line’s three year anniversary and an increase in overall patient experience score! To celebrate, we are providing meals for all of our healthcare heroes! #ExcellenceAlways”

Notably, Medical City Frisco has already started building their grand patient tower last February according to a Community Impact article from October 4 which reports,

“Medical City Frisco’s new patient tower is on schedule to be complete by December 2022.

The two-story hospital tower will primarily house spine and orthopedics patients, and it will also have surgery and ICU-level care. The foundation of the building allows for growth to eight floors in the future, CEO Patrick Rohan said in an email.

The patient tower is part of Medical City Healthcare’s investment initiative of more than $1.1 billion to be spent or committed over five years throughout the health care system, officials said.”

After finally receiving the Level 3 Trauma Designation, Medical City Frisco now aims to receive the Level 4 Trauma Designation before their patient tower is completed.
