Grapevine’s Post Malone, a devoted Cowboys fan, performed ‘America the Beautiful’ at Super Bowl LXVIII in Las Vegas, adding energy to the pre-kickoff festivities, according to a Dallas Morning News article. It reports,
“Grapevine’s own Post Malone is on hand in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LXVIII.
The 28-year-old rapper (and lifelong Cowboys fan) helped get Sunday night’s festivities going as he performed “America the Beautiful” shortly before kickoff between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post, hails from Syracuse, New York, moved to Grapevine, Texas, at nine, and adopted his stage name at 15, inspired by his DJ father, according to a Sporting News article. It says,
“Who is Post Malone?
Austin Richard Post, as the rapper is named, was born July 4, 1995. He spent the first nine years of his life in Syracuse, New York, before moving to Grapevine, Texas, with his family. As a result, he grew up a Cowboys fan.
The singer-songwriter became interested in music because of his father. He was a DJ in his youth and introduced his son to many different types of music. By age 15, Post Malone had his stage name. He picked it using his last name and a “rap name generator” for “Malone.””
After his Super Bowl performance, Post Malone mingled with fans, sporting a Dallas Cowboys jacket and ‘DALLAS’ True Brvnd hat.
