Introducing the 7 & Up Club
Walnut Central Orthodontics has developed this fun and free program designed especially for kids ages 7 & older who are not yet ready to start Orthodontic Treatment. Growth and dental development varies significantly with each patient.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children come in for a check-up with an orthodontist by the time they are 7. Sometimes early treatment is necessary — however, if your child is not quite ready, they will join the 7 & Up Club, which will monitor their progress and tooth eruption at every visit.
What to Expect When Joining?
After your child's initial evaluation, if it's determined they're not ready to start treatment, they'll officially join the 7 & Up Kids Club — and the fun begins right away!

Treatment Timeline
Phase I
Treatment usually takes 6 to 18 months and a variety of appliances may be used to correct specific problems.
- Braces: placed on the upper and/or lower permanent teeth.
- Habit Appliance: A bonded appliance to prevent harmful habits such as thumb sucking.
- Palatal Expanders: To correct bite problems, and for other permanent teeth to come in properly.
- Space Maintainers: Used to preserve space when baby teeth are lost early.

Observation
The time between phases, our patients will be seen approximately two times per year.
2
Phase II
Phase II treatment typically refers to the normal orthodontic treatment that may follow a first (early) Phase I treatment. This usually involves placing braces on both the upper and lower teeth, once all the adult or permanent teeth have come in or erupted.
